Kaelan Riley King

Kaelan Riley Longworth King, 19, of Addison, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 13th. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 20th 1998 to Melissa King and Wade Longworth. By friends, family, and anyone whom he contacted, Kaelan was known for his heart, his enduring empathy, and kindness towards others. If someone suffered, Kaelan would be found extending a helping hand; a quality uncommon in someone so young. Even when his own life was turbulent, he sought to sacrifice his own resources for others’ sake. Kaelan is survived by his mother Melissa, his grandparents Steve and Diane King, his girlfriend Regina Christian, and best friend, Deniko Dotson; their love for him endures and grows in this difficult time. Marshall Herbert Uhl

Marshall Herbert Uhl was born June 7th, 1926 at Norwegian-American Hospital in Chicago, IL. He died April 12th, 2017 at Bridgeway in Bensenville. He was the only child of Christ Joseph “Joe” Uhl and Elfreida Klein Uhl. He graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in May 1943 in order to enlist in the Army. While in the Army, he attended the University of Michigan and University of Illinois, as well as Wright Junior College; he completed his education at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago in 1953 with his degree in Electrical Engineering. He was honorably discharged after serving in post occupation Army-Air Force after World War II.

He met Esther Anne Barber at the Lutheran Student Center at University of Illinois. They attended Confirmation classes and he was baptized in and confirmed in 1951 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago. They married at Trinity Lutheran in Pontiac on July 3, 1954. During the next 40 years, he worked as an Electrical Engineer for Hallicrafters. Motorola, Western Electric, and Sola among others. During Esther and Marshall’s 46 years of marriage, their love produced two children: Paul Hiram and Carol Margaret Elfreida.

He was a Ham radio operator for over 60 years and a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1947. He was a third degree Mason and was Worshipful Master of Lodge 1159 in 1976 and 1999. He was a long-term member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on the Board of Trustees for several terms.

Marshall Herbert Uhl was preceded in death by his wife Esther (December 22, 2000). He is mourned by his family, Paul and Linda Uhl, Carol and David Alba, his grandsons, Stephen and Michael Uhl, Ryan Alba, and Laura Verner, a member of the extended family, as well as the many who knew him.

Lying in State Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 865 S. Church Road, Bensenville IL. Interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Bensenville IL. Visitation Monday, April 17, 2017,  from 3-8 p.m. at Geils Funeral Home, 260 W. Wilfred Andy ‘ Red’ Hish

Wilfred A. Hish – United States Air Force. Passed away peacefully with his niece Patricia Greco by his side. Beloved husband of the late Carol (nee Jensen). Loving father of Steven (Patricia) and Greg. Proud grandfather of Steven, Brandon, Andrew and Stephanie. Dear brother of the late Zola (the late Lorenzo) Greco, Wilbur (the late Joan) and Pat (Bob) Matzenbacher.  Preceded in death by parents John Wesley and Edith Mae Hish. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Wilfred worked for many years at LaGrange Crane Company where he was a member of Local Union 150. He loved sending family time sharing many stories and movies from his memories.  He loved horse racing and always enjoyed his rides and cups of coffee from McDonalds. He enjoyed “Life in the Sunshine”

Carole Crowe Mantia

Carole Anne Crowe Mantia, 73, of Bensenville, IL, passed away at 12:48 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017. Carole was born December 26, 1943 in Springfield, IL. The daughter of John F. and Helen M. (Grigas) Crowe. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Patrick Crowe. She married Joseph I. Mantia in June 1979. He preceded her in death in November 1994.

She is survived by brothers, Michael (partner Margaret), Bryan (spouse Maureen), sister Janice (spouse Roland). Several nephews and nieces.

When she was 2 years old, she was diagnosed with polio, requiring her to wear a brace her entire life. She received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Quincy College in Illinois. After graduation, Mantia worked for the state as a personnel technician in Springfield, and later was transferred to the Department of Rehabilitation in Chicago where she held the position of personnel manager and rehabilitation counselor. After 25 years of service she retired in 2001. The agency is known today as the Illinois Department of Human Services. Carole also served one term as Bensenville Village Clerk. She was a member of St. Charles Borromero Church located in Bensenville.

Carole loved going on cruises and took several trips to Alaska. She had a passion for Angels, and collected them in all shapes and forms. She also had many dogs over the years, and was especially fond of Dudley and Poppy.
