Carl Schulatz, age 67 of Addison passed away Friday January 19, 2018 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center Hospice in Elk Grove Village, Il. He was born October 25, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, the son of the late Lois Larm and the late Everette Coombs. He was a wonderful older brother to his sister Diana Janicke and brothers, Dean (Patti) Schulatz and John Schulatz.
When Carl was 6 years old, his family moved from Indiana to Palatine, Illinois. They lived there only a short time before they moved to Bensenville where, after a few short moves, they settled on Hamilton Street. The family lived there for many years. As everyone grew and moved away, Carl stayed there until bought out by O’Hare Airport in 2006 where he settled in Addison.
Carl was always a hard worker. He got his first job delivering newspapers at age 10. When he was old enough, he got his first real job, working at the Petro Gas Station in Bensenville, on the corner of Green Street and York Rd. He then partnered with two friends and bought a Texaco Station on Rte 83 and Devon. Some years later, the station was sold and after a brief stint in heating and air conditioning, Carl took a mechanics job for District 83 School System. He worked several years there until he joined his brother Dean at Howard Pontiac in Elmhurst, where is became Assistant Used Car Manager. He stayed at Howard until his retirement in 2011.
Survivors include his siblings, along with 5 nieces and nephews; Heather, Wayne, Dino, Justin and Savanna and several cousins. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 2 PM until time of Memorial Service 6 PM at Geils Funeral Home, 180 S. York Road, Bensenville IL. Interment Private.
